Leuven.Inc workshop 'The Essentials of Project Management'

In this one day training, you’ll learn how you can complete projects in a successful and satisfying manner. This training is for you if you have to manage projects, but you feel you lack the experience for setting up projects, planning, reporting and team management.

In a first part of this workshop, we’ll explore the basic components of project management and the project life cycle. We will focus on a good and careful preparation, strategic planning and collaboration. These are essential to keep projects on track, even when unpredictable events strike.

As a second part, you’ll learn about the skills you need for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, on budget and with the desired results. We will discuss the execution of a project, how to plan and organise effective meetings, and how to report and present the status and (intermediate) results.

Managing projects successfully is a key asset in today’s business environment. For you as an individual, because it gives you the skill to thrive in a complex, project-based environment. But also for your company, delivering successful on-time projects is a strategic advantage.

In addition, project management has become more than a collection of planning techniques and systems. It has become an integrated method for individuals and organizations to reach their goals. A part of the modern management toolkit, it allows companies to cope with challenges such as growth, change, mergers, and restructuring.

Please bring your own case to the workshop. You can work on it during the assignments and the feedback from the participants and trainer.

We look forward to welcoming you and help you develop a pro-active and successful project management style.

After this workshop, you’ll have learned:

  • The principles of project management
  • Preparing and planning for success
  • Risk assessment for projects
  • Monitoring and delivering a project
  • Working together with a project team
  • Managing and encouraging your team
  • Communication and conflict handling

Target audience

This course is especially suited for people who need hands-on skills to help successfully complete project assignments.
Junior project managers will learn how to define, plan and execute a project, even a complex one.

In addition to the hands-on skills, we also give you the basis and fundamentals of project management, which you will need if you want to grow in project management.
